Our Responsibility as a World Leader
The United States Government's decisions, statements, and actions affect the lives of people all over the world.
The tragic loss of civilian life and the increased regional instability that occurred in Israel on May 14, 2018 was completely foreseeable.
The Administration's decision to withdraw from the Iran agreement days before formally relocating the embassy to Jerusalem, and without regard to the emotionally charged commemorations of Israelis and Palestinians, could not have been more ill-planned.
The U.S. has a great responsibility as a world leader. We must use that power to bring people together, rather than driving them further apart.
I reassert my commitment that when in the U.S. Senate I will work tirelessly toward a two state solution that would recognize the right of the Jewish people to statehood and recognize the right of the Palestinian people to statehood, without prejudice to the equal rights of the parties’ respective citizens. I have faith that these two people, cousins in geography and DNA, can work side by side to achieve peace for future generations. It is our responsibility to help them achieve it.
